Last month work/travel plans were re-routed; issued by a nor’easter drenching the East Coast. Even when you are a big kid “you can't always get what you want, but if you try sometime you'll find, you get what you need” vocalizes Sir Michael Philip Jagger of The Rolling Stones.
So, its never to late to teach our little people; how thrilling living fully in whimsical redirections can be!
Fresh off indulging in the Practical Magic series… in lieu of the Boston area; I landed north of NYC opting to spontaneously visit Salem, Massachusetts anyways, for only a few hours. Genuinely, each literal roadblock was worth it. The memories built along the way, fortuitous! In an unfortunate change of events; openness, joy and kindness reflected along the entire path!
Beginning with meeting the most beautiful woman glowing in a metallic garment over the hotel omelette bar. That morning, preparing to deliver 'Aging with Vitality'! She went gaga for my silver mane + hat. We’d depart one another with big smiles, hugs embracing new allyship and blessings to our respected adventures.
A four-hour drive north turned into 6 ½ hours of Life with John Mayer mixtape through construction jams, four rush-hour traffic traps, scenic Connecticut, snackin’ on Dunkin Donuts in Massachusetts, the spotting of a millennial pumping gas into a MaryKay Cadillac purchased from her award-winning grandmother in Rhode Island and arriving to the final destination; Salem; realizing… everything would be closing.
But alas, I cannot put in words the sovereign power of the pre-storm sunset that night. The beauty and the magic in making new friends, some in a parking lot bonding over unclarity, ending with an invitation to be a rehearsal dinner crasher - yep, I did.
Moral of the story… with open hearts; things can turn more memorable than expected.
